Bio - Brooks Mendell

Dr. Brooks Mendell is an award-winning speaker and educator in the fields of communication skills, leadership, and forestry. Brooks has given over 400 speeches and seminars in Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, and around the United States. He has also given over two dozen presentations and lectures in Spanish in Colombia, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.

A former Fulbright Scholar, Brooks earned BS and MS degrees at MIT, an MBA at the University of California at Berkeley, and a PhD in Forest Finance at The University of Georgia. At MIT, Brooks was co-captain and co-MVP of the record setting 1993 baseball team. At UC Berkeley in 2000, he was selected to be the MBA Commencement speaker.

Brooks is the Founder & Principal of Forisk Consulting, a timber market research and education firm. In 2006, he published Loving Trees is Not Enough: Communication Skills for Natural Resource Professionals. Brooks is currently writing a book about the MIT baseball team’s 1993 championship season called Beaverball: A Winning Season with the MIT Baseball Team.
